Nintendo 3DS To Hit Store Shelves March 27th

With the anticipation and excitement surrounding the launch of the first glasses free 3D gaming system, today’s press conference, which finally revealed the launch date, was a big moment for Nintendo fans.  March 27th will be the magic day for those awaiting the 3DS gaming system release, complete with a $249 price tag, which is right about where we expected it to be.  Those of you who have been waiting anxiously for your glasses free 3D gaming experience, the wait is over!  The initial launch will features both aqua blue and black 3DS units.

Nintendo’s president shared some details on the specs and features of the new 3DS, giving DS fans a little window into some of the special surprises in store for us, such as the three cameras, one front facing which is a 2D camera, and two rear facing cameras which are 3D cameras, a pedometer, a Mii maker, and a shooting gallery game that uses a player’s own image as the target.  Players will also find indicator lights which reveal status information, such as when friends are online, or when the battery is low.

It was announced that there are 30 3D games scheduled to be released between now and June, including Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars, Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 3D Ridge Racer 3D, and Dead or Alive: Dimensions.  3DS games are sporting a price tag between $40 and $50, which is more than most DS games.  Players will be able to use DS games on the 3DS also, which provides some relief.

The Nintendo 3DS is available for pre-order with free shipping.
