Amazon Adds 3 New Kindles, Including Full Color Kindle Fire Tablet

Amazon has enlarged their family of Kindle eReader devices, and has added a new $79 Kindle model, two Kindle touch models, and a 7″ full color Kindle Fire tablet model that provides a full tablet experience that incorporates ereader functionality.  Amazon has strategically launched these new Kindle devices right before the busy holiday season kicks off, no doubt as an effort to end 2011 with quite a bang.

The new $79 Kindle 2011 eReader is a more compact, lighter, and svelte device that is priced starting at $79.  It is a wi-fi only model and the keyboard on the Kindle 3 has been replaced with a 5-way controller, which contributed to the smaller and lighter design.  It includes the same savvy features as the Kindle 3, except with a smaller storage option.  Amazon does offer free cloud storage for all Amazon content however, so storage isn’t really an issue.  There is both a Kindle with special offers model and a Kindle without special offer, priced at $79 and $109 respectively.  This is the perfect, affordable gadget for those looking for a dedicated ereader experience.

The new Kindle Touch ereaders are priced at $99 for the Kindle Touch wi-fi model, and $149 for the Kindle Touch 3G model.  Both offer a highly responsive multi-touchscreen and the most advanced E Ink Pearl technology on its 6″ screen.  The Kindle Touch offers all of the features and functionality of the Kindle 3 model, although it is lighter and more compact.

Amazon has also launched the Kindle Fire tablet which offers a 7″, full color touchscreen display, powerful dual core processor, Cloud accelerated browser known as Amazon Silk, Android operating system, access to thousands of apps and games, access to Kindle content, and much more.  The IPS technology ensures a vibrant, stunning rendering of color and images, while the super fast processor ensures multitasking, multimedia, and performance excellence.  Its the lowest priced tablet device on the market with such a rich feature set.

The Kindle Fire tablet is available for pre-order right now for the low price of $199, which is lower than the Nook Color, or any other comparable tablet.  Learn more about the features, specs, and how to buy the Kindle Fire here.
