New “Arrival” Mission Announced for Mass Effect 2

BioWare announced a new episode of Mass effect 2, dubbed the Arrival, available for download on March 29 on Playstation Network, PC and Xbox Live for $6.99, 560 Microsoft points or 560 BioWare points.

A description of the Arrival episode on the Mass Effect 2 website reads, “A deep cover agent is missing in Batarian space, after reporting evidence of an imminent Reaper invasion. Shepard must travel to the edge of the galaxy, rescue the agent, and discover the truth behind the Arrival. Uncover new research and 3 new achievements in this spectacular new adventure for Mass Effect 2.” The new DLC will also feature Admiral Hackett who is voiced by actor Lance Henriksen of “Alien” and “Terminator,” reports PCmag.

Mass Effect 2 recently picked up the best game of the year honor at the UK’s BAFTA awards, where the jury raved about its “combined achievement of technology, art, design [and] audio… a beautiful complete gaming experience.”

EA and BioWare are set to release Mass Effect 3 in time for the holiday season 2011 for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC. Mass Effect: Arrival is reported to bridge the gap between the two installments, according to G4TV.

The Arrival’s imminent release was rumored last week with BioWare revealing various screenshots on its site. The new DLC will also include three new achievements for Xbox 360 and PC and three new trophies on PlayStation 3, says Computerandvideogames.

“All year, we have been extremely honored and humbled by the reception we have received for ‘Mass Effect 2’ from players around the world, including our post release DLC”, said Casey Hudson, ‘Mass Effect’ executive producer in a statement, according to PCmag. “’Mass Effect: Arrival’ is an exciting extension to ‘Mass Effect 2’ and will show players just how close the Reapers are to returning and completing their deadly harvest.”
