PSP2 Possibly As Powerful as PS3, To Be Announced Jan 27th

While the Nintendo 3DS is in the spotlight right now when it comes to handheld gaming systems, rumors are circulating that Sony may be gearing up for their own big announcement about the PSP2, which players have been anxiously awaiting more information on for quite some time.  Well, the wait may just be over as there is a press conference scheduled for January 27th, and everyone is expecting big news about the PSP2.

The press conference takes place in Tokyo, and we’re expected to hear that the PSP2 will be in stores as early as October 2011 according to reports from MCV.  Sony is already working with developers on games so that there will be a substantial game library at the time the device is launched.  Sources have confirmed that Netherrealm Studios and EA are working with the device already.

The idea that the PSP2, a handheld device for on the go gaming, is as powerful as the PS3 is quite intriguing, and certainly captivates us, leaving us on the edge of our seat for the upcoming press conference.  Other rumored information states that the PSP2 screen will offer HD, with twin stick controllers.  One primary objective of Sony is to develop more deep level content in order to differentiate the savvy gaming system’s titles from those which can be played on tablets, such as the iPad.  While it is circulating that the gadget may have phone capabilities, Sony says that it won’t be the device’s main use.

We are expecting the PSP2 to be debuted at the 2011 E3 event, and also the GDC event.
