Gwyneth Paltrow to Sign $900K Music Deal

Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow, who played a singer trying to make a comeback in “Country Strong”, is said to be close to signing a music deal with Atlantic Records.

Paltrow, 38, who is married to Coldplay’s Chris Martin, may have gotten the musical bug from him, reports NBC News, and has been showing off her vocals in numerous settings in the past year. Besides playing a country singer on the big screen, she also appeared on the hit musical TV series, “Glee,” as an erratic substitute teacher Holly Holliday. She made a cameo appearance on Tuesday’s episode when she sang a moving rendition of Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide,” a pop version of Joan Jett’s “Do you wanna touch me” and a tango-choreographed of Prince’s “Kiss,” reports Entertainment Weekly.

Paltrow also made several onstage appearances singing at the Country Music Awards and Grammy Awards with Cee Lo Green. Most recently, she performed at the Academy Awards singing the Oscar-nominated song “Coming Home” which drew in mixed reviews, reports ABC News. She admitted that she felt some nerves prior to going onstage at the Oscars. She said, “This feels hard because the Grammys [were] so much fun and it was silly,” she told Access. “This is like, very serious. I’m like, ‘Geez, it’s a serious song, and I’m by myself up there.’ I hope it’s all right.”

The New York Post now reports that Paltrow is close to signing a deal with label, Atlantic Records which also boasts Sean Paul, James Blunt, Phil Collins, and Kid Rock. However Paltrow’s publicist denied the report to Entertainment Weekly, saying, “There is no deal in place for Gwyneth with any record label yet.” On the Oscars red carpet, she said that an album might be in the works, “We’re talking about it now,” she said, according to ABC News.
