Thousands upon thousands of people are going to line up for the Nintendo 3DS all throughout Japan and we’re going be doing our best to provide you with lots of great live coverage,” announces the official Nintendo 3DS Blog.

The newest gadget, ”is the latest handheld gaming innovation from Nintendo. It features the dual screen setup of the Nintendo DS, but allows for full, stereoscopic 3D gaming without the need for any special glasses,” claims Nintendo.

The gaming company has wanted to launch a 3D gaming handheld for a few years now, but with the rapid rise of mobile phones that offer gaming solutions, Nintendo had to react fast to thwart off the threat. Besides the actual 3D gaming experience, Nintendo DS has many other appealing features; it has a gyroscope and a motion sensor which allows for a 360 degree field vision, it plays 3D movies and takes 3D pictures, it offers a pedometer to track how much you  walk, it is compatible with old DS games, and has an internet browser.

One other notable feature is that it exchanges information when you pass another 3DS gamer on the street. There are games called “StreetPass Quest” and “StreetPass Puzzle” that will need you to work with other 3DS users or “Miis” to either escape from a tower or solve a 3D puzzle, according to the Nintendo 3DS Blog. You can pre-order the Nintendo 3Ds and dozens of 3DS games.
