Sprint to Announce HTC EVO at CTIA Wireless 2011

The CTIA Wireless 2011, one of the biggest tradeshows in the mobile industry, will be taking place in Orlando from March 21-24, and Sprint is expected to unveil a slew of new products including the new HTC Evo smartphone.

According to rumors by Boy Genius and reported by Eweek the new HTC Evo 3D smartphone and an HTC Evo 4G View tablet are said to be divulged by Sprint at the conference. The new Evo smartphone will run on Android 2.3, dubbed “Gingerbread” and HTC. It will be powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm 8660 Snapdragon processor and have a 4.3 inch 3D touch screen with a 960 by 450 3D display. It will feature a 5 megapixel camera and a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera.

Other rumors claim that the new Evo 3D will have special apps for watching 3D Blockbuster and YouTube videos and HDMI output to link the phone to a 3D television screen, according to TGDaily.

As for the HTC Evo 4G View, it will have an aluminum unibody design, a 7-inch 1024 x 600-pixel touch screen, and HTC scribe with optional pen support. It will also run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, have DLNA and HDMI-out support a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, reports BGR.

Earlier this month, Engadget reported that Sprint booked an entire two and half hour time slot on Tuesday at the conference, and sources have told the site that it will unveil other products besides the Evo, perhaps something close to the Nexus S with Wi Max in the form of a SPH-D600 or SPH-D720. BGR also speculates that Sprint will unveil an eco-friendly 3G touch screen device with a solar rechargeable battery door.

In other Sprint news, the Washington Post reports that Google Voice will be integrated into Sprint phones, allowing customers to get all the benefits of Google Voice such as; international calls at cheaper prices, call forwarding to other numbers, and voicemail with automated transcription accessible via the net and others. This move could bolster Sprint and set it apart from other companies, especially with the announced AT&T T-mobile acquisition.
