Xperia Play: Chinese Blog Leaks Playstation Phone Specs

As all the portable entertainment and mobile communications geeks try to wait patiently for news on the Playstation’s new phone, the Xperia Play, a Chinese blog has taken it upon themselves to divulge just how nifty this gadget is.  The Xperia Play is a Playstation phone that will also run games and applications, and while Sony has yet to officially announce the device, some leaked specification data will give us a little more insight.

The blog reveals specifics on the hardware specs, including that the Xperia Play features a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, a 4″ display, a Qualcomm Adreno 205 graphics processor, microSDHC support, an 8 megapixel rear facing camera with LED flash, a 1500 mAh battery, and 512 MB of both ROM and RAM.

Many hopeful Sony fans were anticipating that the savvy device would be revealed at the CES 2011 in Las Vegas, however this was no the case.  Perhaps they are saving it for the Mobile World Congress next month which will be held in Barcelona, but with Sony’s silence on the Xperia Play, nobody is sure, and Spain is a little far away to show up on a hunch for the potential unveiling.

If Sony doesn’t announce the Xperia Play by then, they will either do it on their own, or our next guess would be the E3 Expo that is in June, but we’re pretty sure they won’t drag it out for that long.  In the meantime, there are plenty of Sony gadgets to get excited about, including the Sony PS3, Sony PSP, and some really savvy Sony Home Theater products.
