Britney Spears is a “Femme Fatale”

After weeks of anticipation with the release of the single “Hold it Against Me” that debuted at Number 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles last month, Britney Spears finally released the name of her seventh album, “Femme Fatale,” due to come out March 15th.

Spears tweeted the name of her album yesterday, in addition to the album cover which features her up close with tousled hair and with a come hither look.

“I’ve poured my heart and soul into this album over the last 2 years. I’ve put everything I have into it,” Spears wrote. “This album is for you, my fans, who have always supported me and have stuck by me every step of the way! I love you all!”

According to Rolling Stone magazine, Dr. Luke, one of the album’s producers that worked with one Britney’s longtime collaborators, Max Martin, said that although the album name was all set, the album itself was still in development and that the songs were still being chosen and other details tweaked.

“We’re in the middle of it right now. It’s a little bit fluid right now. I can’t even say at this stage what songs for sure are making it and what songs aren’t. We’re working with a lot of producers and overseeing it with her A&R and record label and management and trying to make something cohesive.”

The hit single “Hold it against me” has been getting good rotation on about 40 top radio stations, and has been generally well received by fans and critics alike. The Vancouver Sun touted it as Spears being at her “cheeriest, clubbiest,” that will dominate dance floors for months to come. Dr. Luke said that initially he and Martin had wanted to give the title to Katy Perry, but then decided it was more Britney’s style.

How does Britney describe the album? Britney describes Fatale as “Sexy and Strong,” “Dangerous yet mysterious,” and “Cool yet confident!”
