Dell Announces ‘Vostro 3000’ and ‘Inspiron R’ Refresh

Dell showcased yesterday its new line of laptops including the new Vostro 3000 line and the new Inspiron R series which both use the new Intel Sandy Bridge Core i-series CPU.

The Vostro 3550 series is designed for small and medium businesses, which according to Dell’s Alison Gardner, represent an “incredibly varied and growing market.” The Laptop provides improved battery life, graphics and comes included a separate AMD Radeon HD 6630M graphics adapter. It also comes with USB 3.0 port and a raised backlit keyboard, reports PCworld.

It’s configured with 4GB of DDR3 SDRAM and a 500GB, 7200rpm hard drive, has four USB ports, a DVD burner, Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI and VGA. The screen comes with a choice of 13, 14, 15 and 17-inch and has a 1366×768-resolution, with fingerprint reader and Trend Micro protection, reports PCmag.

The notebook comes with a minimalist design, “It’s a feature set that’s compelling—everything you want and nothing you don’t,” said Gardner. “We want customers to walk away with the feeling that their money went far.”

The Vostro 3000 series is also the first small business notebook to feature SRS Premium Voice Pro voice-enhancing software. “It adjusts to your volume as you’re chatting,” said Gardner, “based on ambient noise in the room,” and filters out background noise. It also has a dashboard button which immediately initiates conferencing, an HD webcam, a digital array microphone and pre-installed Skype, adds Eweek.

In another product announcement, the new Inspiron R line also comes with the 2nd Generation Intel Core processor, the latest USB 3.0 technology, and a choice between 15 and 17-inch screen. It is designed for individual and family use, and comes with interchangeable lids of different colors and designs, “Because customers value performance and style, the eye-catching lids are designed to suit your mood or style at any given moment,” says Dell’s Sam Burd in a press release.
