Carmelo Anthony’s Trade Melo-Drama Continues

Rumors regarding the trade of Denver Nuggets Carmelo Anthony to two New York-area teams continue to circulate, but nothing is confirmed.

The trade of Carmelo Anthony, dubbed the “Melo-Drama” in the sports world, continues to make headlines with talk that Anthony has been approached by both the New Jersey Nets and the New York Knicks to join them in 2012, according to the Boston Globe. Anthony’s contract is set to end this year, and there is a clause that allows him to opt out of the Nuggets after this season, which would make of him a free agent.

The Denver Nuggets have already offered the star player a 3-year, $65 Million contract, but to the question “Will you stay with the Nuggets?” Anthony only answers, “I don’t know,” reports The LA Times.

According to The San Francisco Chronicle, there has been a tentative agreement between the Nuggets and the Nets to send Anthony to New Jersey but that the deal still depended on Anthony agreeing to sign a contract extension with the Nets. The New York Daily News also reports that Anthony met face to face with New York Knicks owner James Dolan and that the two teams held a conference call about an eventual Anthony trade agreement.

At the All-Star Games, Anthony talked to the media and said that he had not heard anything from the Nuggets about any deal, denying previous reports circulating that the Nuggets allowed him to talk to the Knicks after he signed an extension with the team.

“I have said that since Day 1, that it’s an option to sign in Denver,’’ he said. “I can’t sit there and say I want to go here or I want to go there,’’ he said according to the Boston Globe.
