Heavy Snowfall Keeps Kids Out of School

Recent heavy snowfall in the Northeast region of the country has thousands of kids out of school, and thousands of parents wondering what to do to keep their little ones happy and not vulnerable to cabin fever.  Areas of NY, IL, NJ, and others have been hit particularly hard with several feet of snow at once.

Well, there are two ways to look at Winter weather, particularly those days when heavy snowfall shuts down many parts of day to day functions, and you’re left with some time on your hands.  One way to see those days is to view it as an inconvenient, freezing, miserable day outside, or you can look outside and see all the opportunity for fun, adventure, and outdoor snow fun that is waiting for you!!  Perhaps snow days are nature’s way of making you take a break to enjoy a few moments of life, off the schedule.

So how do you make the most of snow days and beautiful weekends where you step outside into knee deep snow drifts?  All it takes is some warm clothes, an adventurous spirit, and some fabulous snow sledding or skiing gear!  Whether you’ve got some young children to entertain or its just the two of you looking for some fun, grabbing a sled, toboggan, snow tube or snow board can turn your afternoon into an exciting and beautiful landscape of snowy bliss.

There are snow sledding and snow boarding/skiing options for everyone from the casual snow bunny to the serious winter sports sledding and skiing expert, and everyone in between.  Tubing, sledding, skiing, and any other creative way to get down a snow covered hill, mountain, slope, or drive way is the perfect way to spend some quality time with friends and family, enjoying the beautiful outdoors, and even getting some exercise.
