Jeopardy Champions Unable To Beat IBM Super-Computer

Watson has become known as the new Jeopardy champion in his debut performance on the show.  Watson can be described as highly intelligent, extremely polite, thin, bald, and a little on the heavy side.  Watson is of course, the IBM Super Computer that was developed to take on the Jeopardy champions Brad Rutter and Ken Jennings last week, defeating them both in a landslide win.

Watson was able to beat his human counterparts to the buzzer over and over, providing the answers in a clam male voice.  This first round was a practice round to test out the technology, before the actual million-dollar tournament that is scheduled to commence next month.

Both Rutter and Jennings have announced that they will give half of their winnings to charity, and IBM has agreed to donate all of its prize money to charity.  The three charities that will benefit from the tournament are World Vision, VillageReach, and Lancaster County Community Foundation.  Rutter has committed 50% of his winnings to the Lancaster charity.

Rutter is the all time largest winner in Jeopardy, winning more than $3.2 million between 2000 and 2005 through his original appearance and participation in 2 “Tournament of Champions” appearances.  Jennings also holds a record with the game of the most consecutive appearances of Jeopardy.  His winnings total more than $2.5 million.  Jeopardy has remained one of the most popular televised quiz shows of all time, and still holds a viewer audience of nine million people every day.
