‘Duke Nukem’ Release Delayed Until June

Initially confirmed for a May release; the video game sequel, Duke Nukem Forever will now be available on June 14 for Playstation 3, PC and Xbox 360.

After fourteen years of working on the sequel to the 1996’s Duke Nukem 3D, the company 2k Games and developer Gearbox software announced in January that the long-awaited sequel would be out in May. “When I said goodbye to 3D Realms and the original Duke Nukem 3D team in 1997 and soon after founded Gearbox Software, I never in my wildest dreams imagined that a day like today would come,” said president of Gearbox Software, Randy Pitchford in January, according to the Financial Times.

He added, “Today I am proud, humbled and even astounded to announce that the day is coming at last for all gamers to be a part of video game history: Duke Nukem Forever will launch worldwide this May!”

According to the BBC, The new game will feature Duke Nukem’s “uber-macho” personality. “Duke brings his signature brand of babe-lovin’, cigar-smoking, beer-chugging and ass-kicking action as he saves the Earth and its babes from hordes of invading aliens,” said 2K Games in a statement.

He will “Shoot hoops, lift weights, read adult magazines, draw crude messages on whiteboards or ogle the many hot women that occupy Duke’s life, this is Duke’s legend,” added the statement.

As for the delay, Gearbox president posted a humorous YouTube video, saying,” Duke Nukem Never Comes Early…We’re Sorry…Yes June 14 (June 10 for international)…we’re sorry…beat us up at www.dukenukemforever.com.”

“We’re committed to deliver a laugh-out-loud, politically incorrect experience that people will talk about for years to come. We thank Duke’s fans for their continued patience – I promise this won’t take another 15 years,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K, in a statement, according to the Financial Times.
