Nickelodeon to Re-Air Beloved 90’s Shows This Fall

People in their twenties and many others will be delighted to hear that Nickelodeon has decided to bring back popular shows from the ’90s this fall.

Hit shows like ‘Rugrats’, ‘Clarissa explains it All’ , ‘Pete and Pete’, ‘Kenan and Kel,’ and ‘All That’ will be re-aired between midnight and 2 a.m. starting this fall, in a segment called ‘The 90s Are All That’, reports Entertainment Weekly.

“At the time, we were completely devoted to that audience ages 9, 10, and 11,” Keith Dawkins, senior VP and general manager of TeenNick, told EW. “It was ground-breaking and for the young viewers, a powerful and pivotal time in their lives. Those kids who are now 22, 23 and 24 want to bring that back.”

The Viacom company decided to bring back popular programming from the 90’s after seeing how much interest the shows still gauged on social networking sites, which include numerous Facebook fan pages with millions of fans, says OK! Magazine. With time, TeenNick is also hoping to bring back some additional shows.

The news announcement by Nickelodeon prompted immediate reactions from fans, and there was unanimous excitement, with many fans begging the network to also air episodes of  other show favorites such as, “Are you afraid of the dark,” “Salute your shorts,” “The Secret World of Alex Mac,””Hey Dude,””GUTS” and “Legends of the Hidden Temple,” among others.

Although some aren’t so happy about the midnight-2 a.m time slot allotted for “The 90s Are All That,” the San Francisco Chronicle thinks that it’s a brilliant strategy, because many of the late 80s and 90s kids are now in college and already stay up late, allowing TeenNick to grab a share of the dormant market.
