Movie Titles in 3D Blu-ray Format for HDTVs Increase in Availability

With the surge in popularity with 3D home theaters, including 3D HDTVs and 3D blu-ray players, it was only a matter of time before a superb selection of popular movies being created in the recent 3D blu-ray format emerged.  Late 2009 brought a decision from the Blu-ray Disc Consortium to release a new 3D blu-ray format, which is right about when the 3D HDTV and blu-ray player explosion took place.

If you want to see a movie that is in true 3D format, compatible with the new 3D home theater technology that is out there, then you need to look for this on the label:  “Blu-ray 3D format” on the blu-ray movie jacket that you are renting or purchasing. The label is typically placed at the top center of the DVD jacket, and is easy to locate.

There are older movies that present themselves as 3D movies, and typically come packaged with 3D glasses.  These movies utilize an older type of 3D technology that does not deliver nearly as impressively as a 3D viewing experience from movies released in 2010 with the appropriate 3D label offer.

To view 3D blu-ray movie titles that are available for purchase and rental, visit the Amazon 3D Movie Store, where you will also find a 3D 101 guide to help you understand 3D technology.
