Joseph Gordon-Levitt Cast in ‘Dark Knight Rising’

Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be joining the cast of Christopher Nolan’s third installment of the ‘Dark Knight’ series due to come out July 20 of next year.

This is the second time “500 Days of Summer” star, Gordon-Levitt, and Nolan will be working together after teaming up for ‘Inception’ last year. Although the role that Gordon-Levitt has not been revealed yet, sources told Variety that he will be playing Alberto Falcone, the son of mafia man Carmine Falcone who was played by Tom Wilkinson in “Batman Begins.” The character, Alberto Falcone who is also known as the “holiday killer,” personifies the kind of realistic villain Nolan prefers to pit against Batman.

In other casting choices, Christian Bale will be coming back as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Anne Hathaway is cast as Selena Kyle/Catwoman. Nolan said of his choice, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story,” according to the Huffington Post.

‘Inception’ star Tom Hardy will also star in the film as another villain, with Nolan saying back in January, “I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies.” Finally, Indie actress, Juno Temple will be appearing in the film, as a “street-wise Gotham girl,” reports NBC.

Production for “Dark Knight Rises” is due to begin soon as Nolan is currently fine-tuning the script. He is also reported to be working as a creative consultant to another superhero movie, “Superman” which already has Diane Lane, Henry Cavill and Kevin Costner onboard, says Variety.

Gordon-Levitt recently finished production of David Koepp’s thriller “Premium Rush” due to come out in January, and is currently working on sci-fi movie “Looper” by Rian Johnson with Emily Blunt and Bruce Willis, reports Variety.
