Elton John, singer-songwriter, mega super star, is finally fulfilling his dreams of being a father, along with long time partner David Furnish, who are now both proud parents of a beautiful and healthy baby boy, born on Christmas Day to an unidentified surrogate mother.

The brand new little tyke weighed in at 7 pounds and 15 ounces.  The couple have named the baby Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John, and his adoption was confirmed by US Weekly on Monday.

Elton John has tried the adoption route before in his attempt to adopt an HIV positive child in the Ukraine.  Unfortunately he was denied permission by the government on the grounds of his age and his marital status.  Elton John is a god father to several celebrity friends’ children, including Sean Lennon, Elizabeth Hurley’s child and Victoria and David Beckham’s first two sons.

In 2005 Elton John married his long time partner David Furnish, which also seems to have helped his standing regarding eligibility to adopt.
