Dexter is one of the most popular drama’s on television, and is a rather fancy feather in Showtime’s cap.  The famous Dexter couple Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter, who play siblings on the show, have called it quits after less than two years of marriage.  The story was first reported by EW, who stated that the split amicable, and that the couple had been separated for some time.

The Dexter duet was married on New Year’s Eve in 2008, and sadly won’t make it to their two year anniversary.  There were no children for the couple, eliminating any messy custody or child support issues.  The divorce is expected to be uneventful.  The couple were seen together on the red carpet earlier this year when Hall won his award for Best Actor in a Drama Series, and when Hall was going through his treatments for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

The Dexter series just aired its Season 5 finale, and has been picked up for a sixth season.  Jennifer Carpenter was reported to have attended the Season 5 Finale party, however Michael C. Hall apparently did not attend.   Fans have their fingers crossed that the split will not affect the sixth season of the show, which is already highly anticipated only days after the finale.
