Beyonce Fires Dad as Her Manager

Beyonce has severed ties with her manager father “on a business level” according to Beyonce’s publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure.

Mathew Knowles who has been handling his daughter’s career since she began in the late 1990s with the group ‘Destiny’s Child’ and her solo career after that, told the Associated Press that the decision was mutual but didn’t explain what led to the split. He not only managed her multi platinum Grammy musical career, but also oversaw her other lucrative deals such as top grossing films, ‘Dreamgirls’ and ‘Obsessed’ and other endorsements.

“I am grateful for everything he has taught me,” Beyonce said in the statement relayed by AP. “I grew up watching both he and my mother manage and own their own businesses. They were hardworking entrepreneurs and I will continue to follow in their footsteps,” she added.

Besides Beyonce, Mathew Knowles also managed fellow Destiny’s Child Kelly Rowland’s solo career and Michelle Williams. They both cut ties with him as their manager in the past few years states the LA Times.

The New York Post reports that Beyonce and her father’s relationship has been strained ever since he and her mother Tina Knowles got divorced in 2009. Tina Knowles also plays a big part in Beyonce’s career as her personal stylist, and with their joint fashion label, ‘House of Derion.’ However Beyonce is reportedly not letting negativity play into the decision. “He is my father for life and I love my dad dearly,” said Beyonce according to the LA Times.

Beyonce recently came under fire because she once accepted to perform at the Qaddafi family’s New Year’s celebration party for $1 million.  She said that at the time she didn’t know where the money was coming from. “Ultimately, Matthew Knowles should be accountable for that decision, and I do accept responsibility,” Beyonce said, adding that she donated the money to Haiti earthquake efforts, states the Hollywood Reporter.
