Netflix Button Being Added To Remotes

Netflix is the premiere online video streaming service out there, and has come to dominate the industry in a powerful way.  Netflix has announced that a special button will be added to remote controls for internet connected blu-ray players, media streaming devices (set top boxes), and internet connected TVs.  The new big red button on the remote will provide direct access to the Netflix online video streaming service with the new one click remote feature.

Netflix is hoping that the convenient access will streamline and simplify the process, thereby attracting even more consumers who are looking for the innovation of online video streaming in a neat, user friendly package, such as a one click remote control device.   This should give them a slight edge over the competition who are moving their way into the media streaming market, such as Amazon Video on Demand and Blockbuster VOD.

There are several popular name brands who have partnered with Netflix for the remote control releases this spring, including Samsun, Sharp, Memorex, Dynex, Haier, Toshiba, and Sony Blu-ray Players, digital media streaming devices from Roku, Boxee, and Iomega, and internet connected TVs from Sharp, Toshiba, and Sony.  The Netflix video streaming service is built in to approximately 250 internet connected devices thus far, hence we are likely to see them all come out with remote controls that include the Netflix button.  Learn more about Netflix compatible Media Streaming devices.

Online video streaming at Netflix has become so popular that they developed a subscription just for the streaming of movies and TV shows for $8 a month.  They also continue to rend DVDs to their customers as well.
