Facebook Friends Can Be ‘Annoying’ Says Survey

According to a new survey, many women are finding their Facebook friends increasingly ‘annoying’ with their constant stream of updates and comments.

Researchers from Eversave set out to discover shopping trends among women that use social networking sites, but stumbled upon another interesting fact: 85 percent of the 400 women surveyed said they were annoyed by their friends’ postings, reports the LA Times. According to Computerworld, the findings are ironic because a study last summer revealed that 39 percent of women who use social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook said they were addicted to them, and that 57 percent of women polled said they communicated with people more online than face to face.

“The survey validated our thinking on Facebook’s growing influence on daily deals, but we were surprised by responses that show the love/hate relationship women have with Facebook,” Jere Doyle, CEO of Prospectiv, which owns Eversave, said in a statement.

So who do people find the most annoying? A majority of the women surveyed, admitted that they have at least one obnoxiously “proud mother” and 16 percent of them said they were irked by the constant postings about their kids, says CBS News. The women also found other Facebook personality types annoying such as the documentarian who excessively updates their status, the incessant liker who ‘likes’ everything, the drama queen and the poser, says the Huffington Post.

Other postings that women in the study found most annoying were; constantly whining or complaining (63 percent), sharing unsolicited political views (42 percent), and boasting about a perfect life (32 percent), says ZDnet.  In some good news for Facebook, 91 percent of the women said they liked being updated with their friends’ pictures and videos, and 76 percent appreciated that Facebook helped them search and reconnect with old friends.
